EGLO Lightplanner: A Virtual Reality Planning Tool

EGLO Lightplanner is a mixed reality tool allowing clients to visualize and customize home lighting configurations before purchasing, with the guidance of expert consultants.

This installation is part of an in-store concept comprising six stations commissioned by EGLO Leuchten GmbH.

The Challenge

Our challenge was to streamline the lighting planning process and accelerate sales by providing customers with a tangible and concrete experience that enables confident purchase decisions while also elevating brand engagement through exceptional customer support.

The Solution

We created the EGLO Lightplanner, a mixed-reality tool consisting of a tablet, a TV (for group visualization), and a VR headset.

This tool enables clients to explore various lighting options from EGLO's catalog and plan configurations for their homes in 2D, 3D, and VR. Clients can visualize their chosen configurations in real time with the guidance of a lighting consultant who can make changes on the fly.

The process begins with the lighting consultant and clients creating a digital blueprint of the client's home on the tablet. The consultant then adds lighting modules to the blueprint in 2D mode, switching to a 3D view for a more immersive experience. The clients can then step into VR mode to explore the space and see the lighting configuration in real-time. Once the planning process is complete, the blueprint is saved and shared with the clients via email.

This innovative tool not only simplifies the decision-making process for clients but also enhances the role of the lighting consultant, allowing them to provide a more personalized and engaging experience to clients in the retail space.

The Result
